Hey, y’all. Just a short one this week. In a couple days I head off to the Lori Foster Reader-Author Get Together in West Chester, Ohio, just outside Cincinnati. We’ll be at the Cincinnati Marriott North on Mulhauser Road. If you’re in the area, be sure and stop by. There’s a signing on Saturday from 2-4pm and I’ll be signing Mermaid’s Kiss, Witch’s Beauty and Vampire’s Claim – as well as any other book a reader wants to bring! If you’d like to go to the conference, I think the registration fee is very reasonable, about $50, but the signing is open to the public without a registration fee.
This is my first author-sponsored conference. I’ve been told they’re much more informal and laid back than the big conferences, and I should bring casual clothes (grin). There’s a pizza party Friday night, a luau Saturday night, and in between a lot of time for readers and authors to hang out in the ballroom and by the pool to talk books and writing and just enjoy one another’s company. What’s also great is that all the raffle tickets bought for the baskets/giveaways being offered by authors, sponsors and other industry folks will benefit One Way Farm Children’s Home which helps abused and neglected children. Also, one of the books being promoted heavily at the conference is an anthology called Tails of Love, put together by Lori and some fellow authors to benefit the Animal Adoption Foundation. So this is obviously a good gathering of folks.
If I don’t see you there, I’ll look forward to bringing you a report next week. AND I’ll give you an update on Gideon, Anwyn and Daegan. They are evolving into an incredible threesome, and Daegan is seriously hot. Since Gideon was already nothing to kick out of bed, I think you’ll like their chemistry with Anwyn (wink)
Have a great week!

Have a great time in Ohio, Joey. A report would be appreciated because I’ve never been to this type of event either. And I’m dying for a Gideon update. I got very excited reading his name. Will that be the next book out after the ones that you’ve already listed as having release dates? I’m already counting the days until August.
Hey Joey, sounds like a fun conference. Have a great time and then tell us all about it.
Really looking forward to Gideon, Anwyn and Daegan’s story. Sounds very intriguing. I’ll take all the sneak peaks I can get!
Hey, girls! Catching up on the email since my return from Ohio. But definitely, the update on the conference is coming, with pictures. Hopefully sometime this week, or next Monday at the latest. Michelle, I’ll be sure to give you all lots of details – I did find the conference very worthwhile, both professionally and personally, and the cost was very reasonable.
And yes! I’m happy to report that Gideon will be the next in the series after Beloved Vampire in August. Don’t have a release date for it yet, but I turn it in to Berkley August 31. If I can get the time to write the darn thing. Lately home life stuff has been crazy – nothing bad, just the daily chaos. You know how that goes. But I did a bunch of recorded notes during my 12 hour drive to and from and have a great detailed progression for Gideon’s story to flesh out the 150 pages I’ve already written. I’ll see if I can’t give you all a few more little tidbits without ruining the story (wink).
How time flies… Been a few weeks since I last dropped by to read your blogs Joey. Hope you had a wonderful time at the conference and I am patiently.. ahem… waiting for those little tidbits about Gideon. The way you tease us with a little info here and there is agony! lol
With the cheongsam being Japanese mistake you mentioned. I actually didn’t notice nor mind that line and I’m of Chinese descent. Most people do generalize the cheongsam as the far east costume because admittedly, it is sexy and flatters the figure. If you really did go for a Japanese costume, the kimono wouldn’t have looked too flattering on Chiyoko’s figure. It is a beautiful costume but with all the layering involved, you wouldn’t even know if she was pregnant or had three legs in there.
Oh and the cover for A mermaid’s Ransom is gorgeous! Love it! It is a little unusual at first glance though. A mermaid and angel mix. lol
Wendy, glad to see you here! Thanks for reassuring me that it wasn’t a horrible faux pas – though I do hate to mess stuff like that up. And as far as the agony part, what do you expect from a BDSM author? (laughter) Your description of the kimono gave me another chuckle, because it reminds me of how my mother describes the way young men wear their pants now – that baggy, belted around the knees style. She says “how can you see their cute butts? They could have three other people in there?!”
I like the cover as well. The only thing that took me a little aback is that the hero looks nothing like the hero in the story – Dante is of Native American descent with long black hair. But that’s okay – if it’s a beautiful cover that captures the spirit of the book, that works. And yes, the merangel aspect takes a moment to absorb (grin).
