Egads, I forgot to include this in this month’s newsletter! You could win an advance copy of Vampire Trinity! Just logon to the fan forum, look under Mina’s Coral Sanctuary where the contests are held, and choose Vampire Trinity Contest thread. http://fansofjoeywhill.forumotion.com/. Good luck! Also, don’t overlook that area of the thread – they’re constantly running excellent contests – for books, gift certificates, pretty baubles, etc… The mod ladies rock!
Oh, PS on that – the winner will be announced this Thursday, so don’t delay!
Received my copy of Vampire Trinity today, a pre-order from Barnes and Noble today. This has worked the same way in the past with Joey’s books. If Barnes and Noble get it they ship it and don’t wait for some artificial date..
What luck. I order from Amazon Canada and usually don’t get it until 7 or 8 days past the release date.
Jerry, that’s great! Maggie, I hope maybe this time will be the exception and you’ll get yours sooner rather than later. Have you tried to go through Amazon.com instead? I’ve heard sometimes you have less problems going through the U.S. branch, but that’s secondhand info, of course!
Either way, thanks to both of you for pre-ordering! May the book be everything you want it to be…
Maggie: Sorry for the bad luck. Barnes & Noble, main U.S. site, almost always ships early on preorders. Called their local store out of curiosity and they don’t have it on the shelves yet but said it would be in a “few days.” Apparently some book snarks (reviewers, etc.) are trying to cash in on Branded Sanctuary as four of them are offering it through Amazon. Amazon isn’t even listing it for pre-order yet. Barnes & Noble apparently has the drop on Amazon again as you can at least pre-order it there.
I mention this for the simple reason that buying one of these new or used books from some Amazon dealer probably won’t put a dime in Joey’s pocket as her royalties won’t reflect the freebies her publisher passes around for review & etc., a good reason (if not the best) to avoid the new and used dealers on Amazon (also B&N dealers too). If you want your favorite authoress to receive the royalty buy it from one of the recognized sources like Amazon (proper, not a dealer of theirs) or Barnes and Noble.
This is no fluke with Barnes & Noble. They do it all the time. When it comes in they ship it and don’t wait for the official date. I received another book, a pre-order of a piece of literary criticism, from B&N also. Its release date is even later than Vampire Mistress. It’s supposed to be around the 20th of September but I received it today, mentioned it also when I called the local B&N store and they did have it on the shelves already for sale. So much for official release dates.
Have jumped into rereading Vampire Mistress again so I can better appreciate reading Vampire Trinity. And I don’t plan to be the one to post a spoiler here or on the fan forum.
Joey
Am rereading Vampire Mistress straight through but have several hours to go before I turn to Vampire Trinity. The rereading has been a lot of fun (as always with your books) as I’m picking up things or nuances I missed before. I plan to take considerably more care when I first read Vampire Trinity and believe my approach will enhance its reading.
Thanks for the advice Jerry. Have always ordered through Amazon Canada because the shipping time seems to be less (doesn’t have to cross the border) and the exchange rate. Will order from the US from now on since, unlike Jess, I need instant gratification. Like all Joey adherents I find that the stories have to be read several times to appreciate all her Muse’s thoughts. Can’t believe I have to wait until next summer to read Mal and Elisa’s adventures. Does this mean I have to live in the real world?
Maggie: Living in the “real world” can be boring in comparison with the ones that Joey creates for us.
Rereading Vampire Mistress has been surprisingly slow going for me. I’m nowhere near ready to read Vampire Trinity. Am having too much fun rereading Vampire Mistress.
Maggie, I think Jess would love the instant gratification – it’s just that Mason won’t give it to her, because he knows drawing it out makes it so much more intense! Though remembering how he usually greets her when he comes home from a trip (a la “clear the kitchen”!) I think he occasionally likes his dessert first, too (laughter).
Jerry, thanks so much for that support and additional insight into the various vendors. And, interestingly enough, when I re-read my own work I always find details/nuances I’ve missed – and of course I’ve edited it a hundred times! So I’m glad the re-read is bringing you that pleasure as well. That should enhance your Vampire Trinity read, for sure!
And Maggie, I think we can choose to live in our own fantasy world, can’t we? Grin – as long as we pay the bills, whatever we do with our off time is nobody’s business! (wink) Seriously, we’ll be offering some things between now and July to help make the time pass. I assume I’ll have a release date for Afterlife before then, since I’m turning it into EC on Tuesday!
Jerry I ordered Branded Sanctuary from Amazon but am not sure where its coming from. The email said Amazon marketplace and when I received the email confirmation it said it was being shipped from the book depository. Is this another vendor or it this still Amazon?
and without you Joey my world would be a little less bright ….. and definitely not as spicy …. can’t think how I functioned all these years without you and your muse’s insight into how other people live. Rather reminds me of that movie that came out years ago where the people were living in a black and white world until they allowed their imaginations to colour their lives. You have become my colour
that sounds maudlin doesn’t it? It’s not meant to sound wimpy. Just straight forward. What I mean to say is that you have expanded my horizons and I’m not as narrow minded as I was
That was Pleasantville, wasn’t it? And the wonderful Tobey McGuire (or Topher Grace – I always get them mixed up) played the lead. It didn’t sound maudlin at all. In fact, it made me feel wonderful – thank you!
Maggie: Amazon Marketplace means an independent dealer who is selling through Amazon, i.e., one of their dealers not Amazon.
Just purchased the books through bn.com and it is schedule to ship on monday which means I will have the book by wednesday and I am so happy
I cant wait for it to be here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This makes my week thanks everyone for the heads up, called my local bn book stores as well and they two didn’t have it and the other sold out. Thanks Joey for giving me something to read while I’m at work and have nothing to do on my lunch break!
Ok Jerry I think I’ve got it now. Will be more careful where my books are coming from. I’m very naive when it comes to ordering online.
Joey the movie was Pleasantville and the actor Tobey McGuire. Thank You
Maggie: It can be confusing. I wouldn’t worry about it.
Hey Jerry and Joey
Just received my Branded Sanctuary – ordered through Amazon and shipped out of Gloucester England. How come? No American / Cdn suppliers? Anyway shipped on Aug 23 and rec’d today. Happy days! This will hold me until Trinity arrives. Hurrah!!
That’s truly bizarre! Because I assume they would get their copies from Ellora’s Cave, since they have inhouse printing. Maybe they were storing them in England? lol – the vagaries of publishing/distribution. I guess as long as it arrived on tim, there are no worries. Hope you enjoy Brendan and Chloe.
Maria, I’m so happy to hear you’ll have it on Wednesday. Those will be some seriously spicy lunch breaks (grin – at least I hope so!).
Am looking forward to the story of Brendan and Chloe. Got mine today from the publisher. Just finished reading Vampire Trinity and it’s GREAT. Won’t say more than that to avoid a spoiler but will say it may be your best vampire book yet.
Aw Jerry – there I was happy as a little piglet with my Branded Sanctuary and now you come along and make me want Trinity again. Shame on you!
Jerry, THANK YOU!! You know I chew off my fingernails until you all let me know if the latest book met expectations. And Maggie, don’t worry – Brendan and Chloe will soothe that craving – but not too much, I hope! (grin).
Ok so I went to bed sad that my copy of VT did not arrive like it was supposed to
So I wake up today late (its my late day to work, and I got off pretty late last night), I get dressed brush my teeth, and then I go to get the mail, I see my bills blahh and then I light up like a christmas tree because in my mailbox right along with my cell phone bill is my copy of VT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was like opening up a christmas present yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m going to work now happy
Forgot to mention that I’m going to stop in the middle of the book I started yesterday to read it while I’m being driven to work because my car won’t start, so not letting that bother me because it gives me more time to read!!!!!!!
Maria, you gave me such a big smile with this! Thank you for that enthusiasm!!! :>
OK halfway through VT and still loving it!!!! Had to put it down for two days :-O my brother got married and I had to help with the wedding but I’m back to reading and hope to be done by tonight
Still grinning on this end… lol
Hey I’m done with the book and all I have to say is I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was the perfect ending and I fell in love with the book and think they are up there wtih my favorite couple Jess and Mason, however they are still my all time favorite. Thanks for the excellent read:-D
Delightful! Always glad to hear that Jess and Mason have “some” competition (wink). Seriously, I’m so happy that you enjoyed the journey with my threesome.
Hi Joey,
Some of my favourite books come from your Vampire Queen series and I’ll be adding Vampire Trinity and it’s prequel to that list. I admit, I don’t usually enjoy a threesome relationship but you wrote the characters and their evolving relationship so well it felt natural.
I also wanted to say thanks for writing such a great male/male romantic relationship. I love reading it and it’s hard to find one with such good writing and storyline; and I loved the dynamic you created between Daegan and Gideon.
Can’t wait for the next book!
Gwen, thanks for that wonderful compliment. So happy that Gideon, Daegan and Anwyn made your keeper shelf list! And I do love writing male/male – Gideon and Daegan’s dynamic was a pleasure to write and I look forward to doing future male/male storylines. Can’t remember if you’ve read Rough Canvas or not, but you may like that one if you love male/males. A couple of my favorites are Under the Influence by VJ Summers and Strongman by Denise Rossetti. Best wishes for 2011!
