Newsletter Winner and Matt Interview Posted!

Sunday, October 31st, 2010

The winner of this month’s newsletter book-of-your-choice contest is Kim W! Congratulations, Kim, and I’ve sent you a direct email to find out what your book preference is!

Just a reminder for everyone else – the character interview with Matt Kensington of Board Resolution (A Knights of the Boardroom book) is LIVE on the fan forum now! Just log on to see the Character Interviews section on the main page, and you’ll see the two-part thread. It was an extensive interview, and think you’ll like the inside/background info Matt reveals about himself, thanks to Mistress Kat’s insightful questions! If you leave a comment, you are eligible for a fantastic authentic New Orleans LA prize package, winner to be drawn  November 5.

Happy Samhain, everyone. Hope you had a wonderful night!

Release Date for Afterlife (Ebook)

Wednesday, October 13th, 2010

I promised to let you all know as soon as I heard, and my editor emailed me a few minutes ago. Afterlife, the next Knights of the Board Room book (Jon’s story!) will release NOVEMBER 19. Yes, that’s this year – hooray! This is being put out by Ellora’s Cave, so that means it will release first as an ebook. I won’t know a print date release for awhile, but I’m hopeful we’ll see the print version in maybe 4-5 months. I’ll keep you posted. Anyhow, just a reminder – this book can standalone, as all the books in this series can, though of course you get some backstory about all the guys in each book – just enough to whet your aVampire's Instinct ppetite to go read their stories (grin). At least that’s my hope!

Also received the final cover for Vampire Instinct today (Elisa and Mal’s story) and wanted to share. I’ll have it out on my website as soon as my wonderful webmaster husband formats it for me to put out on the site (aka, as soon as he has a breather from World of Warcraft). Yes, it’s a little bit different tone, but it’s growing on me. Even if you don’t see it now, I think you’ll understand why when you read their story.  Because there’s a gentle innocence to Elisa’s character, it made this a bit more appropriate than the dark edginess of previous titles.  But don’t worry – still LOTS of steaminess between Elisa and Mal, because she’s a very natural submissive and he’s…well, he’s a vampire. Need I say more? (wink).

Oh, and apropos of nothing, wanted to share this pic from the Romanticon Roaring Twenties party. I went as a mobster and thought you all would want to see the Ellora’s Cave “Cavemen” in their mobster finery. So I made the “sacrifice” of having my picture taken with them (lol). The gentleman kneeling on my left is the model for Branded Sanctuary, the incomparable and charming Angelo. I had a pic taken with him after he signed one of my BS excerpt booklets, and as soon as I get that, I’ll post that pic, as well as a short write up of the con (though such documented evidence REALLY makes it difficult for my husband to believe my vehement declaration that conferences are all “work, work work – no fun at all” LOL).

Romanticon2010

On that note, I have to get back to my word count for Jacob and Lyssa today – just wanted to share a few tidbits. Hope you’re all doing well!

September Newsletter Winner

Friday, October 1st, 2010

I gave you all a tough question this month to win that $50 Amazon gift certificate, butterfly car charm and a book of your choice. The question required knowledge of Daegan from Vampire Mistress/Vampire Trinity, as well as a familiarity with my angels from the Daughters of Arianne series. The question I put out there was “Who is Daegan’s father?” And of course I noted in the newsletter that this had to be an educated guess, because it’s never stated outright in Vampire Mistress and Vampire Trinity – only hinted. I gave you a clue by suggesting you consider Daegan’s genetic features – hair, eye color, etc.

Now, based on that, some of you guessed Jonah, which was a very good guess, because Jonah did have dark hair and dark eyes, like Daegan has. Others of you guessed Dante, from Mermaid’s Ransom. However, since Daegan is centuries old, and Dante is only sixty, it was a mathematical impossibility (laughter) – but you correctly picked up on a genetic feature that Daegan had that Jonah didn’t – the crimson lights that occasionally flicker in his eyes. Jonah’s eyes did become crimson in Mermaid’s Kiss, but only due to poison and external extreme circumstances, not as a regular genetic feature.

There’s only one angel in my books that has dark hair and dark eyes with flickers of crimson in them, and Dotty B correctly named him. Daegan’s father is Lucifer. This is from A Witch’s Beauty, about Lucifer: “As the only born angel of the Seraphim with color in his eyes, red flame flickered among the coal depths.”

One day I’ll write a vignette about the circumstances under which Lucifer came together in his brief interlude with Daegan’s mother – and don’t worry, it wasn’t a betrayal of Lucifer’s Lady (you know me better than that! – grin).

Congratulations, Dotty, and thanks for all who played! I promise I’ll go back to the much easier “book of your choice” drawing next month – no questions! :>

Dragons, RAW and AAD

Monday, September 20th, 2010

Many of you know that I’ve been on a marathon of conferences and other personal travel commitments this month. I’m halfway through my trek at this point and since my blog is getting lengthy on the three I’ve attended so far, I wanted to catch you up now. There’s just no way I could cover everything, but I’m going to try and include highlights, with apologies to any special moments or pictures I took that don’t make it into the blog. I’ve met so many great readers, reviewers, bloggers, publishers, editors and authors, I wish I could include you all. I did Q&A panels about BDSM, vampires, e-publishing, non-vampire paranormal and romantica. Though preparation for conferences and their attendance takes away from home life and writing, I never find the time wasted, because I always bring back such wonderful memories of meeting readers, authors and so many others who make writing the books all worth it…

So here we go…

Mason and Jessica Vignette – Taking the Gloves Off – Part Nine/Final

Saturday, August 14th, 2010

Hope you enjoy our conclusion (at least for now!) of Mason and Jess’s vignette. This will be it for vignettes for a little while, at least until I get past the Sep-Oct conferences and my November 30 deadline, but that doesn’t mean you won’t have delightful things coming up. See the first comment at the end of this vignette!

Jessica put her hands on his knees, sliding over the bone to the firm joining point of the muscles that layered his thighs. All her senses were open to the nth degree, such that the nerve endings in her fingers registered each element of the terrain. Smooth, slim bands from the knees, tributaries that ran down to those wide muscles leading up his inner thighs. She hooked the opening in the towel, tugged enough to have it loosen at his waist, then slid her hand under, enjoying the pleasure of first finding him by touch, whispering over his testicles, then to the heat and life of his cock. Her hand closed over the thick base root, resting the side of her hand on the heavy sac beneath it. With the other hand she pushed the towel back, revealing the impressive length and breadth of him. She felt a surge of quaking delight at the viscous fluid collected at the top, waiting for her parted lips.

Can you imagine it, habiba? They are all watching, the most powerful vampires in the world. Their servants stand still behind their chairs, yet every eye is on you, on whether you will serve me well.

Mason and Jessica Vignette – Taking the Gloves Off – Part Eight

Friday, July 30th, 2010

Here we go, guys! There will probably be one more segment after this one, unless the muse surprises me (grin). All good things must end, though we know Mason and Jessica have many more adventures ahead of them (and possibly more future vignettes!). As always, hope you enjoy this…

* * * * *

Perhaps it was because of how vulnerable she felt right now, how stripped down to the soul, but if he brought himself to completion, gave his essence to the waves and the sand, rather than to her body, it would be as sharp and devastating a rebuke to her heart as anything else he could do. She equated it with his choosing to leave her behind, not letting her share every part of his life. He was her Master, her life and will his to command, yet it wasn’t that simple. She loved him; she had demands of her own, so many of them having to do with her deep-seated need to serve him.

Those tears touched her lips, suppressed sobs fair choking her. He’d proven his point. He could break her down to this, to pure need and pain, no rational or sensible thoughts in her mind, only emotion. Please don’t…
