Lori Foster Reader-Author Get Together

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

As I mention in my current June newsletter (sent out tonight, hopefully), if you’re not much of the “spa weekend” type, but you love the “girls getaway” concept, (and of course I KNOW you love reading romance) this type of conference is perfect. It’s a weekend of sitting around and chatting with other romance lovers, both authors and readers. It’s very non-intimidating and fun, with great food, silly games and a chance just to be yourself. I enjoyed myself immensely, and was gratified to meet so many Ohio-area readers (and those who traveled even further), who’ve enjoyed my books and wanted to talk about them. I sold out of all the signing copies of Mermaid’s Kiss, Witch’s Beauty and Vampire’s Claim!

Here are a few shots. In this picture, I’m with Jacquelyn Frank (red head) and LoriFoster2009RAGTandPets 073Emma Holly (sitting). I told them I wanted this picture so that I could look like an important author (wink), because of course both of these ladies are NY Times and bestselling authors, as well as great women. At the beginning of the conference, authors chose a table at which to sit (4 authors per 10-person table), so readers would know where to find them. I had the good fortune to sit at Emma’s table, and found someone more shy than myself – while being entirely gracious and not hesitant to provide her insightful views about writing, critiquing, etc.  A very talented lady. I’m reading her book Velvet Glove right now, and it is everything I was told it would be. Emotional and hardcore erotic at once.

Headed off to another conference…

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

Hey, y’all. Just a short one this week. In a couple days I head off to the Lori Foster Reader-Author Get Together in West Chester, Ohio, just outside Cincinnati. We’ll be at the Cincinnati Marriott North on Mulhauser Road. If you’re in the area, be sure and stop by. There’s a signing on Saturday from 2-4pm and I’ll be signing Mermaid’s Kiss, Witch’s Beauty and Vampire’s Claim – as well as any other book a reader wants to bring! If you’d like to go to the conference, I think the registration fee is very reasonable, about $50, but the signing is open to the public without a registration fee.

This is my first author-sponsored conference. I’ve been told they’re much more informal and laid back than the big conferences, and I should bring casual clothes (grin). There’s a pizza party Friday night, a luau Saturday night, and in between a lot of time for readers and authors to hang out in the ballroom and by the pool to talk books and writing and just enjoy one another’s company. What’s also great is that all the raffle tickets bought for the baskets/giveaways being offered by authors, sponsors and other industry folks will benefit One Way Farm Children’s Home which helps abused and neglected children. Also, one of the books being promoted heavily at the conference is an anthology called Tails of Love, put together by Lori and some fellow authors to benefit the Animal Adoption Foundation. So this is obviously a good gathering of folks.

If I don’t see you there, I’ll look forward to bringing you a report next week. AND I’ll give you an update on Gideon, Anwyn and Daegan. They are evolving into an incredible threesome, and Daegan is seriously hot. Since Gideon was already nothing to kick out of bed, I think you’ll like their chemistry with Anwyn (wink)

Have a great week!

I have not forgotten you all…

As some of you know, I came back from RT with a terrible head cold and four days to the deadline for Honor Bound. My very kind editor agreed to extend the deadline to Monday so I could divide my time between sleeping in a sinus-compacted, feverish state and blearily going through the draft once more. Thank heavens I’d already polished it fairly well before I left, because no telling how sharp my editing faculties are right now (laughter).

Anyhow, my plan is for a great, comprehensive blog post about the conference sometime next week, promise. Thanks for your patience in the interim, and look forward to sharing with you!!

Oh, in the meantime, a couple places to see/hear about conference stuff:
